Methodology The smartmap graphic shows the political positions of the parties in the form of a two- dimensional political map (progressive - conservative / EU integration - Euroscepticism). The responses to the EU VoteMatch statements serve as the data basis. The closer the points representing the parties are to each other, the more similar the parties’ political profiles are. The positions of the parties are calculated using multidimensional Scaling (MDS), i.e. there is no prior allocation of the questions to the two smartmap dimensions.
